My most frequent questions on instagram are usually pertaining to the apps that I use, the way I get a specific effect or what filters I use! So I decided to just join these two YouTube tags into one hopefully helpful video! I’m so glad to read in the comments that those of you who have an 8GB iPhone also regret your choice… I feel less bratty now, so thank you for that!! With that said, I don’t have a ton of music or apps due to lack of memory, but I think I have a pretty good variety of picture editing apps that I’m going to share with you in this video! Hope you learn about some new apps to add to the super fun instagram editing process (being completely honest, I get so much joy in editing a picture to go onto insty… I’m such a loser).
In this vicious world of online shopping (okay… it’s really not that vicious, it’s rather quite enjoyable), there’s countless online stores that all offer amazing pieces at great prices! So how’s a girl to choose?! I’ve had the opportunity to pick a few pieces from a couple online stores, and figured I would not only show you the pieces I chose, but give an honest review of some elements of the online stores! Ie. prices, organization, overall appeal (this is a personal opinion obviously). A lot of these online shops offer many of the same pieces as well at sometimes different prices, but there are other factors such as shipping costs and all that nonsense that can make deciding where to order from pretty difficult! Online shopping should never be stressful, so I’ve provided you with some quick and simple reviews on each store!
Disclaimer: I was provided with store credit to choose some pieces, but all opinions are my own.
Calling all ladies with drawers on drawers of unorganized makeup and jewelry! This DIY is perfect for organizing all the products that are rolling around without a home and make them accessible for everyday use! It can be made into a snug fitting drawer insert or a simple wardrobe topper if you’re someone who likes to have your products on display (I’m totally one of these people). This DIY is also great for customizing the organizer to have the perfect sized compartments to meet your needs to separate or house all your products! Enjoy!
ALL MATERIALS USED
-2 rolls of craft tape (can’t remember the brand name) from Michaels
-pop case cardboard
-jewelry box cardboard
-scotch tape (you can use whatever kind of tape)
-foam/some kind of material to make your boxes fix better if you need to!
Firstly, I want to apologize for the length and quality of this video. It’s no where near what I was hoping it to be, mostly caused by the sun dropping at an abnormally fast rate when I was filming. I was hoping to go a little more in depth with each outfit, but because of the time crunch I really was only able to squeeze in a quick overview of each outfit. But nonetheless, I hope you enjoy my Puerto Vallarta Outfit Lookbook!
I’m not quite sure how this post slipped my mind, especially considering the fact that this is the most exciting milestone and announcement I’ve made in my YouTube career, so I guess this is old news for most of you. But if you’re more of a D&I follower opposed to a YouTube subscriber, I HIT 100,000 SUBSCRIBERS ON YOUTUBE! This is seriously one of the most amazing accomplishments that has ever happened to me, and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the support from friends, family and my loyal viewers!! I posted my first video just over a year ago, and I can’t believe the rate at which my channel grew and what it has now become.
So I’ve been hyping up a pretty exciting announcement that I said I would publicize at 100k subscribers, and again, this is most likely old news to many of you, but I’m launching my own personal iPhone case line titled “Lucky Deer Cases”. And we all know how unhealthy my iPhone case obsession is, so hopefully when the cases arrive I don’t end up keeping them all…… And because my viewers are the reason that this was possible, I wanted to make you all apart of the process of choosing the designs! I’ve made some mock up designs and posted them on tumblr for your viewing, to decide which design should be one of the five cases I’m putting into production! Unfortunately this giveaway is closing in a couple days (Friday, May 24th) because I’m a forgetful loaf, but there’s still two days to get your votes in! I reiterate all the details in the video, but here’s what’s up:
1. Must be subscribed to laurDIY
2. Comment down below your TOP 3 fav cases from this tumblr link!
***Note: I’ve decided I wanted to share the designs that are going into production for sure, so get stoked!!! The potential cases to choose from are numbered 1-5!
3. Must be 18+ or have a parent’s permission
4. This contest is international – so anyone can enter!
5. This giveaway will close ONE WEEK from the video post date (I want to get things going ASAP!!)
6. Follow me on instagram @laurDIY (not applicable if you do not have insty)
Questions about Lucky Deer Cases
How much will they cost?
$20 + shipping ($8 flat rate Canada/USA, $12 flat rate Worldwide)
What phones will you be making cases for?
iPhone 4/4S to begin with and hopefully the iPhone 5 soon enough!
Who designs them?
Me! With love from me, to you
So again, I just want to thank every one of you who has watched, liked, subscribed and supported me through this journey, I couldn’t be more appreciative.
I’m in serious Mexico withdrawal right now as my tan slowly fades away. I’m longing for the beach, the sound of the waves and the nachos that you always get before your entree (strange thing to miss, but seriously – we need to jump on this). So I’ve finally been able to throw together the last two vlogs of my vacation, and I apologize for the length of part 3 but it was too long to put into one single video! These next vlogs are a little more exciting and action-packed than parts 1 and 2 where I basically just chatted your face off and gave you tours of random things (which I still hope you enjoyed), and were filmed with Baz’s GoPro to capture all the underwater and DSLR danger zone shots! (I’ve ruined way too many cameras from a single grain of sand… I’ve definitely learned my lesson) One of the most exciting parts of the whole vacation was the opportunity that my dad and I had to swim with sealions, but unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to bring in my camera since they want you to buy their overpriced pictures (which we did obviously… sealions are so cute), so I’ll post some pics as well after the videos! Enjoy!
After making it out of exam season alive, my family and I set off for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a week of straight relaxation and fun in the sun. I’ve never been to this part of Mexico, and needless to say I would go back in a heartbeat and would definitely recommend PV to anyone looking for a great vacation! And although the local shopping wasn’t your typical mall experience, the flea market off the Malecon was one of the highlights of my trip. I got some amazing things for SO cheap!!! Plus who doesn’t love a little bartering to get the cheapest prices . I’ll definitely do a little “Mexico Haul” in the final Vacay Vlog (not sure how many parts there are going to be… thinking maybe around 4), to show you all my Mexican goodies!! Enjoy! (PS – I totally slacked on a post for the first day vlog, so here they both are!)
I’ve been presented with another amazing opportunity to be apart of a great giveaway to give one lucky subscriber some serious summer beach bag lovin’! One of my favourite trends that’s finally making its way into most mainstream stores is high waisted denim! Whether it be high waisted jeans or high waisted shorts, I’m loving it all and couldn’t wait to get a DIY going to show you guys how to do it at home! So now that we’re finally in the transition period from winter to spring (at least here in Toronto – longest winter of life), I’ve dug out my high waisted shorts from last season and made a quick trip to my local thrift shop to pick up a few new pairs to destroy. In this video I’m showing you my all time favourite way to get that perfectly-destroyed-urban-outfitters-quality-shorts, with a pair of under $5 jeans, scissors and tweezers! There are also a ton of other methods and techniques to get this look (ie. knives, sandpaper, nail files), but from my experience I’ve found that this is the easiest and quickest way to get that perfectly rugged style. Enjoy!
It’s around this time of the year when I start buying anything and everything that reminds me of the sunny days to come of summer (aka expect lots of hauls to come!). This Spring, I’m loving velvet, skater skirts and boat loads of arm candy! This collective haul features clothing pieces from Romwe, Target and Brandy Melville, accessories and gorgeous arm candy from OhGee Boutique and some new makeup favs from Sephora! I already have way too many online orders en route to my house, so get stoked for my next Spring haul! All items will be credited to their respective store.

Lately on YouTube there’s been this amazing video trend where a YouTuber will portray their whole life on a white board in basically under 15 minutes. It’s like getting to know someone in the shortest amount of time possible, seeing all their major ups, downs and life changing events that have made them who they are today. So I jumped on this band wagon after many requests, and just a heads up to those who are considering filming this video… It ain’t easy!! 2 hours of embarrassingly preliminary drawings later, and another half hour of voice overs trying to put my life into words… and here we are! So I hope you enjoy learning a bit more about me and reliving the last 19 years of my life via a whiteboard and 13 minutes of terrible drawings!
If you’ve been following me for even a short period of time, you’ll know that I am a huge sucker for online shopping. There’s nothing I love more than shopping from bed, it’s just the best of both worlds! And with Spring on the way you can bet that I’ve spent a healthy amount of time perusing the web for the latest Spring trends. A site that I’ve been loving lately is SheInside, a trendy online-only store that updates daily! Below you’ll find a collage of an outfit that I’ve had sitting in my SheInside shopping cart for a few days now (it’s just a matter of time before I give in), and a few Spring jacket trends that I’ve been eying! A Spring jacket is one of my top priority purchases right now, so here are a few of my current options!
For some reason I’ve always had an obsession with creating cute little displays with all my makeup. And obviously these displays last all of 24 hours until my makeup gets used again and the display ends up disheveled and variously scattered in different places. BUT in those short 24 hours, I loved the look of my carefully arranged makeup. One of the easiest and cutest ways to spruce up your makeup display (if you’re anything like me with this display obsession), is to add some cute touches to your makeup brush holders! It’s an easy way to cute-ify the display and the best part is that it’s a permanent fixture to the display since brushes will only come and go. So I’ve devised 3 super simple and easy ways to transform your makeup brush holders into a super cute addition to your makeup displays.
Glass Jars – Dollar Store
Glue Gun – Walmart
Pearl Beads – Dollar Store
Letter Stickers – Dollar Store
Candle Stick – Dollar Store
Twine/Hemp – Dollar Store (Craft stores would have this too)
Makeup Brushes – ELF, Quo, various stores!
So…. I somehow completely forgot to make a post about my most recent video, and only posted it to YouTube! My deepest apologies to those who follow my videos on my website, I owe you guys! School is beyond crazy right now as I’m ending my second year at University, so unfortunately YouTube has taken kind of an attention hit lately as school has to be priority (which is so wrong). But nonetheless, I will still have a video up tomorrow for my weekly Sunday video, and again I’m sorry this was delayed! You can always subscribe to my YouTube channel for instant updates on when I upload (just in case this happens again… which I promise it wont!). I’ve gotten a lot of requests to do a “What’s in My Purse” themed video, and I thought it would be more real if I literally just filmed exactly what was in my purse. Girls seem to clean up their bags to a totally unrealistic state, to the point where we all know they do not keep their purses that neat. Because seriously, name one girl who has an insanely clean purse. So enjoy my purse contents!
I just wanted to thank you guys for all the interesting questions you asked me on Instagram, and I hope I was able to answer the majority of them in this video! If I wasn’t able to get to your question or you have more, leave them in the comments of the video and I’ll get back to you there. Thanks for watching lovelies!
