DIY: 3 Makeup Brush Holders

Written by , Posted in Contents

For some reason I’ve always had an obsession with creating cute little displays with all my makeup. And obviously these displays last all of 24 hours until my makeup gets used again and the display ends up disheveled and variously scattered in different places. BUT in those short 24 hours, I loved the look of my carefully arranged makeup. One of the easiest and cutest ways to spruce up your makeup display (if you’re anything like me with this display obsession), is to add some cute touches to your makeup brush holders! It’s an easy way to cute-ify the display and the best part is that it’s a permanent fixture to the display since brushes will only come and go. So I’ve devised 3 super simple and easy ways to transform your makeup brush holders into a super cute addition to your makeup displays.

MATERIALS USED
Glass Jars – Dollar Store
Glue Gun – Walmart
Pearl Beads – Dollar Store
Letter Stickers – Dollar Store
Candle Stick – Dollar Store
Twine/Hemp – Dollar Store (Craft stores would have this too)
Makeup Brushes – ELF, Quo, various stores!

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS DIY! I’ve done a lot of DIYs in my day, but this has got to be my favourite DIY that I’ve ever finished and been 100% satisfied with. It’s a whole new look for you Mr. Dresser, and if I do say so myself, you’re looking mighty fine.

There’s so many ways to customize this project and make it your own, so make sure you tag me in a picture of your finished product if you take on this DIY! I mention some other fun ideas for decorating the drawers, but just to name a few; ombre colours, fabric, scrap book collage, doodles and drawings… The list goes on! I love this DIY and hope all you other DIYers will too! xx

How To: Heart Bokeh Lens Filter

Written by , Posted in Contents

So this has been a photography effect that I’ve been dying to learn for the longest time now, and I’ve finally gotten around to trying it out on my new Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens! This has got to be the easiest how-to tutorial that gives the cutest results, and takes the typical blurred christmas tree light picture to a whole new level of cute! I realize that this tutorial is not useful to many of those without a DSLR camera and a high aperture lens, and I apologize for that as I typically aim to do DIYs that are suited for everyone. But I really wanted to share this with everyone who has the necessary camera accessories because I’m actually in love with it! I’d love to see the different bokehs that you guys come up with! (I’ll warn you now that it’s the biggest pain in the arse trying to cut that little shape out…). Happy DIYing! xx

Materials Used:
Camera – Canon T3i
Lens – Canon 50mm f/1.8
Cardboard
Scissors
Hockey Tape (alternative – scotch tape)

Note – if you have a heart punch (like a hole puncher but in a heart shape) it’ll make the process of creating the heart a whole lot easier I just couldn’t find mine!

The 3rd DIY of Christmas

Written by , Posted in Contents

My mom has officially told me to stop making Christmas DIYs, as I’m somewhat taking over our living room with Christmas decorations… Too bad for her I still have a few more I want to get out before Christmas! This DIY turned out way better than expected, and if it wasn’t for my Christmas decor ban at home I would definitely be making more! Picking up a 12×12 canvas and finding the 12×12 scrapbook  paper not only made it super easy to fit the paper to the canvas but also offered a ton of choices for a background! This DIY had a total cost of $10 for both pieces of Christmas wall decor. I would love to see what you guys do with this (the variation I saw on pinterest was with the word ‘LOVE’), but there’s an endless amount of options. Keep in mind that I can’t see private instagrams when you tag me! Good luck DIYers! xx

Materials Used
12×12 Canvas – Michaels
12×12 Scrapbook Paper – Michaels
Gold/Silver Thumbtacks – Dollar Store
Glue Gun
“JOY”: Font – Baskerville Bold, Size 325

The 2nd DIY of Christmas

Written by , Posted in Contents

I am absolutely loving all this free time during the holidays, and I’m just itching to get my Christmas crafting on! I saw this ornament on pinterest and knew I had to share it with my readers and viewers. It’s absolutely adorable and makes for a great handmade gift for friends and family. Again, the majority of the materials are from the dollar store (with the exception of the clear ornament from Michaels), and it costed me a total of $6! A lot of families have gorgeous designer Christmas trees, but my family tends to cover our tree in homemade, aged ornaments from the collection that has grown over the years. I’ve always had a knack from crafting and DIYing, and our tree is covered with the evolution of my ability to use a glue gun and glitter spray paint. One more to add to the tree! Hope you guys enjoy this cute melted snowman ornament! xx

Christmas DIY: Ornament Wreath

Written by , Posted in Contents

The Christmas DIYs have finally begun! I have a whole week of holiday and festive DIYs and this is just the first to come! After a long semester of school, I finally have the time to give my channel and blog the TLC that it deserves, so stay tuned! Not only is this cute little Christmas craft easy as pie, but it’s also under $10. So if you’re slacking on the festive decorating, it’s not too late! All these materials were purchased at the dollar store (because let’s be honest here, everyone is a little strapped for cash around this time), and that’s it! I went with a traditional look with the typical green, red and gold, so I would love to see what my readers do with this DIY! Tweet/instagram me a pic if you give this a try (keep in mind I can’t see private Instagrams). Merry Christmas lovelies!

Also, with the new renovated Youtube homepage, I find that it’s confusing and somewhat tedious to find all of my favourite youtubers’ videos! So I would love you all forever if you liked my facebook page so you never miss a video! xx (link on the right)

DIY: Tiered Jewelry Stand

Written by , Posted in Contents

This DIY is definitely ranked as my fav DIY I’ve done thus far, and is one of my favourite pieces in my room (and it was under $10!!!). Can’t beat making something super cute for super cheap! All the materials were found at the dollar store ranging in price from $1-2. There’s so many ways you can change this DIY up and suit it to your personal style with different colours and styles of plates (and I’d love to see what you guys do!). This stand is a perfect tiered holder for things like watches, bracelets, rings, hair accessories, nail polishes, makeup, perfumes and so much more!

Here’s what you need (for a 3 tiered stand):
-2 mini candle sticks (make sure these aren’t too big or else you risk your stand toppling over if they’re too tall!)
-a base plate
-a medium sized middle plate
-a smaller top plate/bowl
-glue gun
-ruler

DIY: Tied Crop Top T-Shirt Reconstruction

Written by , Posted in Contents

Another T-shirt reconstruction coming to you from the land (well closet) of the t-shirt hoarder! I actually bought this shirt with a DIY in mind knowing that I would love it once it wasn’t choking me at the neck and giving me football player shoulders with the heinous sleeves. This DIY is seriously about 10 seconds of work and then 10 more second of tying the knot of the crop top… It couldn’t get easier! And I think it’s a great way to spruce up your collection of tees or unworn shirts. I almost feel silly for posting this DIY because it’s SO EASY!!!! A crop top like this can be easily paired with some high waisted jeans or shorts, and it looks great under a fall jacket! Hope you enjoy lovelies <3.

Boyfriend Does My Makeup Tag!

Written by , Posted in Contents

I’ve had a decent amount of requests for this video ever since Baz made a guest appearance in some bloopers, (probably because he’s such a goof and everybody wants to see how big of a goof he can make me into), so here it is; the boyfriend does my makeup tag! I give him a solid C- in terms of application, probably ranking somewhere in the middle of makeup talent done by boys, especially compared to some of the other videos I’ve seen. At the end of the day I have concluded that A) never give eye liner to boys, they’re not quite sure where your eye actually is and how to line it, B) mascara is a mutli-functional tool for eyebrows and eyelashes… apparently, and C) blue is most definitely NOT my colour. Hope you guys enjoy this at my own expense hahahah!

PRODUCTS USED:
-Revlon Photoready in 006 Medium Beige
-Eclat Mineral Pressed Powder
-Faces Bronzer
-Quo Concealer
-E.l.f. 100 Colour Eyeshadow Palette
-Maybelline Colossal Mascara
-NYC Liquid Eyeliner
-E.l.f. Brushes
-Kabuki Face Brush

DIY: Peter Pan Collar Necklace

Written by , Posted in Contents

Fall is here in full force (such full force that it’s basically winter), and my wardrobe has basically been replaced with comfy knits and big sweaters. I’m loving this DIY and I think it’s a really cute accessory to spice up a fall cardigan or knit sweater. Also! A cute alternative for pearls would be glitter, so let me know if you try it, I’d love to see how it turns out! Here’s what you need and a link to my stencil!

-felt
-stencil
-pearls/beads/glitter
-liquid glue
-ribbon
