CocoRosie

Written by , Posted in Music

I had previously mentioned the duo CocoRosie when attempting to describe Angus and Julia Stone, so I figured it would only be suitable to share my most favourite CocoRosie song! Formed in 2003, sisters Bianca “Coco” and Sierra “Rosie” Casady debuted as a sisterly duo in a genre that has been commonly called “freak folk” (they’re a little strange at times… but that just seems harsh). The duo formed CocoRosie in Paris, incorporating elements of pop, blues, opera, electronica and hiphop into their music.

Guitar, piano and harp are commonly featured in their music as the base of the melodic scores, but it would not be considered odd if you caught the sound of various children’s toys, electronic and percussion instruments and other exotic noisemakers (a little weird but I wouldn’t call them freak!). Since forming 9 years ago, CocoRosie has released 4 full-length albums and have successfully been touring around the world. Check out my favourite song off the album “The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn”! (Other albums include: La Maison de mon reve – 2004, Noah’s Ark – 2005, The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn – 2007 and Grey Oceans – 2010).
