Lately I’ve been been loving all things involving accessorizing your hair/head (apparently… looking at my consecutive head accessory videos). I think these dainty gold head chains are also a bit more wearable than the flower crown as well (I would be more likely to rock the headchain anyways!). This DIY is pretty much just some simple bracelet making techniques to fabricate a super simple but eye-catching chain head piece! I dare you to wear it!
Chain – Ardenes/beading store
Pliers, Wire Cutters & Scissors – hardware/beading/dollar stores
String – Any craft store/beading store
I’ve been absolutely loving the flower crown trend lately, they’re the perfect summer accessory for a music festival or to finish off a summer boho look. I feel as if flower crowns haven’t quite made their grand debut into stores yet, and while you can find tons on etsy and online stores, I like being able to see accessories like this for size and colour reasons. Here’s how to boho-ify your hair!
glue gun – walmart
fake flowers – dollar store
headband – ardenes (can be found at any drug store/accessory store)

I’ve tried just about everything in the book to get great curls without using any (or minimal) heat. I’ve done the headband, the sock bun, the rope braid, you name it – I’ve done it. The biggest issue I find with each of these methods is that all of them tend to leave some kind of marking on your hair, whether it’s from an elastic, clip or headband. So although this method isn’t the most convenient time-wise (but let’s get real – it’s really not comfortable to sleep with your hair pincurled to your head) I find that it gives the best results with NO MARKINGS!! Here’s how:
*and yes, I know I accidentally put in the same clip twice!
Optional: Apply a curl defining mousse/product.
1. On 90% dry hair, separate your layers (if any), and curl the shortest layer away from your face and fasten the twist above your ear
2. Twist the remaining hair to the end and fasten to your shirt with a toothless clip
3. Repeat on the opposite side of your hair, making sure to twist away from you face.

Moroccan Oil: Salon (you can find it online/any high end salon)

Okay so I know that the summer we’re having isn’t even really summer, it’s basically summer on steroids, but this is a perfect DIY for a cute summer coverup for the beach, pool or summer day outing! I was contacted via tumblr by a girl who requested this really cute tie dyed dress from urban outfitters, and I really only used the dress as inspiration as you’ll see that my dress looks absolutely nothing like the UO one (I got a little dye crazy!). This is also a great DIY to just go wild with your creativity, there’s no rules when it comes to tie dying!!

1. scrunch/pinch the shirt into small bunches
2. thoroughly cover the scrunched shirt with the first colour

6. hand wash with cold water until the water runs clear

I can’t believe how big of a slacker I’ve been lately on these blog posts!! My excuse is that YouTube is actually pretty demanding in terms of upload frequency and interacting with my subscribers. But it all started here on D&I so I have to make sure I don’t get too far behind! If you lovely readers remember, I spoke about a super exciting project that I had been working on for a while (I think I first mentioned it in one of my Puerto Vallarta vlogs), and I also had a giveaway video where I asked you guys to help pick the 5th case in the LDCase line. Well Lucky Deer Cases is has come to life in the form of 5 different designs! I can’t thank you all enough for letting this happen, because without all of you and your support this would never have been possible. This is for you!
I also just wanted to reinforce that if you have any questions please read the FAQ prior to emailing/getting in contact with me! I answered pretty much every question under the sun that you might have to make it easier for you and me!
The keys to my new apartment are only a few weeks away, so I decided it was the perfect opportunity to start doing some apartment decor DIYs! I did a little series last summer with some other canvas art and such which I’ll link at the end of this post if you missed them or are new to the laurDIY channel (and yes I know I look like a total baby in the old videos), and you guys had a great reaction to it! So to kick off the 2013 apartment decor series I couldn’t think of anything better than to get my DIY on with 2 of my favourite things: glitter and gold! I’ve been dying to have free reign over how I’m allowed to decorate my apartment, and since landlords can be super controlling about what you’re allowed to do (aka my last landlord), I was SO happy to learn that I pretty much had no rules in terms of putting holes in the walls and painting! If you don’t follow me on pinterest, you can check out my “Apartment” board for the inspiration I’ve been using. ANYWAYS, back to the DIY, this week’s decor DIY shows tutorials on two different ways to use glitter and a canvas to make some super cute art on a budget! Enjoy!! <3

Calling all YouTubers and Bloggers! My most frequently asked questions are usually pertaining to growing a YouTube channel, for example: getting subscribers, getting views, starting a channel, how to deal with hate, etc! I’ve also had a ton of questions directed to my tumblr about what the best first video is and such! So I’ve decided to answer every YouTube/blog related question that I could come up with/have ever been asked to hopefully offer some advice and tips for those of you who find yourselves struggling to up your view count or start a channel! I can’t guarantee millions of subscribers or free products being sent to your door due to your blogging success, but I can promise you that these tips will help improve the chance of getting more views and in turn becoming more popular! (Because in all reality, we all want our blog/youtube child to be watched and read). I’ve also targeted the times in the video that help separate the topics (cause this bad boy got a TON of information in it). So again, I apologize for the length, but I seriously just tried to cram in as much advice and information into one video as possible.

You guys have been begging me for a new video with Baz (the boyfriend) in it, so I’m bringing you 13 minutes of pure goofballiness and ridiculousness. I had originally planned to do a Q&A video with the questions I asked you guys to ask me on instagram, but instead, I tried to think of a more exciting and fun way to answer the questions! So this is how this silly video was born. You asked us questions and we wrote down the answer for the other person to see how well we really knew each other! (I think baz ended up winning by 1-2 questions.. but we forgot to keep score!) More videos to come with the boyfie! Enjoy! <3
Now that my hair has finally reached a length where extensions aren’t a daily thing, I’ve put the good ol’ hairs into hibernation. But back in the day where I was struggling to get past my boobs (few years back), extensions were my absolute best friend to help bridge the gap between long hair and the awkward length I was at. From time to time I will give the extensions a night out if I’m going to a special event or just feel like having a thick mane of hair, especially when I feel like curling my hair, as I feel as if extensions always add that extra little “oomph” that you need for perfectly curled hair. ANWAYS, VpFashion reached out to me to review a set of their ombre extensions, as ombre extensions aren’t something you stumble across everyday. I was accurately matched, chose a style and length, and voila! They were at my door for reviewing. VpFashion was also kind enough to provide a discount code to my lovely viewers and readers! So here’s what I thought!

I’m absolutely obsessed with having a cute notebook with me at all times. You never know when a million dollar idea will come to you, and you have to be prepared! (I’m still waiting for my million dollar idea) So I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping for new moleskins and cute notebooks, and I’ve fallen in love with tons of them, but I’m usually not so in love with their price tags. Anthropologie had particularly cute notebooks that were adorned with an even cuter little gift tag to write your name, and I decided to replicate the gift tag notebook and also a second method of covering and creating a custom notebook!

The “50 Facts About Me” tag has been virally circulating around the YouTube community and I’ve been absolutely addicted to them! I feel like I start to get a feel for the person as I watch their tutorials, hauls and and tag videos, but this is the ultimate fast-track to getting to know the person. So I compiled a list of 50 random facts about me (actually it’s 48 because I’m an idiot and apparently can’t count), so I hope you guys get to know me a bit better!
So I officially win the award for the most MIA blogger of life. AND IM SORRY FOR THAT! This summer has been ridiculously busy between a 2 video a week posting schedule, the launch of lucky deer iphone cases, the horrible choice to take an online class and working part time as a server! But I’m taking a blogger oath to promise that I will post each video on D&I as well! So prepare yourself for about 8 blog posts that are wickedly behind. But from now on each video post will be accompanied by a blog post as well.
This video has got to be on of my most requested, but there’s nothing scarier that putting yourself makeup-less on the internet for the whole world to see. So keep the snide remarks to yourself, we can’t all be gorgeous right after rolling out of bed! (Only making this disclaimer as the world of rude youtube commenters already had a field day over my makeup-less face) Anyways, the point of this video is to share with you my everyday makeup tutorial as it has been requested a billion times!!! Enjoy my loves!

My most frequent questions on instagram are usually pertaining to the apps that I use, the way I get a specific effect or what filters I use! So I decided to just join these two YouTube tags into one hopefully helpful video! I’m so glad to read in the comments that those of you who have an 8GB iPhone also regret your choice… I feel less bratty now, so thank you for that!! With that said, I don’t have a ton of music or apps due to lack of memory, but I think I have a pretty good variety of picture editing apps that I’m going to share with you in this video! Hope you learn about some new apps to add to the super fun instagram editing process (being completely honest, I get so much joy in editing a picture to go onto insty… I’m such a loser).
In this vicious world of online shopping (okay… it’s really not that vicious, it’s rather quite enjoyable), there’s countless online stores that all offer amazing pieces at great prices! So how’s a girl to choose?! I’ve had the opportunity to pick a few pieces from a couple online stores, and figured I would not only show you the pieces I chose, but give an honest review of some elements of the online stores! Ie. prices, organization, overall appeal (this is a personal opinion obviously). A lot of these online shops offer many of the same pieces as well at sometimes different prices, but there are other factors such as shipping costs and all that nonsense that can make deciding where to order from pretty difficult! Online shopping should never be stressful, so I’ve provided you with some quick and simple reviews on each store!
Disclaimer: I was provided with store credit to choose some pieces, but all opinions are my own.
